If you happen to be a keen watcher of Bond movies, our gentleman knows his way around assassins, spies, sexy girls, exotic cars and of course equally exotic drinks.

Most of us know that the preferred Bond drink is a “dry Martini, shaken, not stirred”. However few of us are aware that 007 has on a few occasions strayed from his trademark beverage.

On many an adventure Bond is seen requesting a Bollinger Champagne and he has been known to indulge in a Mouton Rothschild

Bur what about his preferences for cocktails that are made from Rum?

On at least a couple of occasions our favorite gentleman spy has sipped a mojito, a little-known mixer that is relatively easy to prepare and made from few ingredients that may be readily available in your kitchen.

To prepare a mojito you will need rum, mint and lime. You will also require one club soda and tablespoon sugar to complete the recipe.

Place two teaspoons of sugar, 6 to 8 leaves of fresh mint and a splash of club soda into your glass.

Use your favorite muddler to dissolve the sugar and release the mint aroma. Squeeze both halves of a lime into the glass and drop one half inside.

Add two ounces of your favorite top-shelf light rum and stir well. You may also substitute a high-end aged rum but you should not make use of spiced rum.

You can also replace your teaspoons of sugar with either syrup, or raw cane sugar - perhaps something like demerara or turbinado.

Next fill the glass with ice cubes and then top off with club soda.

Cheap club soda is an easy miscue that could sap the flavors of your drink, so try some of the high end club sodas and possibly a dry club soda with cucumber or lavender flavors for a delightful mojito only 007 would have winding down. Cheers and bottoms up!
