The Cruzan Estate Diamonds Rum is truer to classic rum, it is unsweetened and raw, higher in alcohol than the Velvet Cinn, at 40% it has more kick to it and a little closer to a shot of whiskey or vodka, although the Cruzan Light Rum is definitely easier to the palate than a Bacardi Gold.
For the uninitiated, unsweetened rum, like whiskey, is bitter tasting and straight can have a pungent odorat.
