Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga Light Up The Stage – Music Update from West Coast Midnight Run

This could explain the reason Miley and team mounted an assault on the MTV Awards show and public perception and took it home.

But then her hit single and music video Wrecking Ball, just weeks after her MTV "bomb", reveals a far more elaborate and concerted media campaign to rebuild her image.

Wrecking Ball is a visual comment on someone tearing down walls and wanting to remove a pre-existing environment around them. That's literally the explosion that Miley and team set off at the MTV Awards, weeks earlier before the video and hit single release from her current album, Bangerz.

We Cant Stop and Adore You are also big hits from her breakout album, Bangerz, which combines a very slight measure of warm Country style into a very strong and solid streak of pop music.

The album has been accused of being raunchy and a few worse things.

Miley Cyrus is not a multiple octave singer, she is not Mariah Carey nor Alicia Keys and yet her performance in Bangerz is musically very powerful, consistent and memorable. The sound and audio engineering production quality on the album itself is first rate.

Bangerz represents a new milestone in production and style for the artist. Her previous album, Cant Be Tamed, of 2010, was the official “breakout” album, presenting an earlier, all new, racier Miley and depicted her with a more daring style in the video clips for the hit tracks from the album.

For some though Miley’s Can’t Be Tamed sounded like a new take on dance and pop hits from the 1990s, with artists such as Amber and LaBouche, Capella (U & Me, U Gotta Let the Music), and Whigfield mixed with some Britney Spears.

Bangerz followed but the media
that went crazy about her MTV performance never took note of her earlier project, Can’t Be Tamed, with two singles released and one charting the top 10. Rolling Stone called Tamed and its rebel tone generic. The videos are on par with Lady Gaga’s and more mainstream artists with a deliberate adult sexual varnish. It’s miles apart from her previous Disney-influenced album, amusingly enough, titled Breakout from 2008, an obvious production for teenagers and tweens.

Breakout featured several solid tracks yet the lyrics and the tracklist spooled arrangements that harmonized with Hanson’s and Glee.

And so it would seem that Tamed was relegated to some distant recess of the collective social memory by both the press and the public and Bangerz is now, once more, the new adult "breakout" album for Miley.

After all the noise abated and the millions of visitor clicks to her Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites climbed sky high into the stratosphere and right into the Oh-Zone layer, Miley and her publicity team kept working the public opinion with more nude-ish photos and more appearances with Miley doing her brazen twerking, a lascivious dance

move that was already popular for several years with hip hop and rap musicians. Dirty Dancing, anyone? Anyone? Apparently audiences have forgotten the movie musical with "lewd" dance moves.

But no matter, this was Miley. What is sad is that in scanning the world wide web for published interviews from

years prior to 2013, there is very little out there that shows us a mature handling of her personna or stage personality. There are very scant interviews in which Miley has been asked in-depth character
questions or the interview has
been composed to show us a
mature teen beyond her years.
