2013 Camaro Series Presented by West Coast Midnight Run

The 2013 Camaro SS and 1LE (track racing mods) are being displaced by the 2014 return of the Camaro Z28

Every professional test driver from Car and Driver to Autoweek has indicated that the 1 LE is a much better package and closer in performance to the Mustang GT. The SS was deemed a little heavier and more slugish. Both the Camaro and Mustang have been neck and neck for decades as favorite pony cars and road bruisers. The Camaro has a definitely more rectangular and slugger/boxer toughie appearance and has always been fitted with the muscle to back it up.

This year GM decides to bring back the racetrack designed Z28, a favorite for those enjoying the rivalry with the muscle cars. The Z28 is

equipped with the Corvette 7.0 liter powerplant managing more than 500 hp with a “naturally aspirated” engine.

Yes no turbos, no superchargers, no multi-valve, multi-cam anything, just raw traditional power channeled with the latest manufacturing technologies and materials using titanium piston rods, all aluminum engine block, carbon ceramic brake rotors and numerous weight saving measures that gleaned more than 300 lbs from the 2013 SS and ZL1 models. The Z28 will be the fastest muscle car on the market beating the Boss 302 on the racetrack. MSRP is rumored to be around $60,000 and mileage is estimated at 15/24 city/highway. While the next generation Mustang will include a turbocharged engine, GM’s plans for the Camaro are to maintain the V-8 architecture for the foreseeable future.
