Cloud Computing is essentially nothing new, a set of networked servers and computers that are leased from a dedicated facility or dedicated multiple facilities to various clients.
That’s nothing new in itself if you believe that companies have always relied on physically distributed infrastructure in delivering seamless web-based products as if resident under the client’s roof and in compliance with the client’s quality control standards.
In practical terms what does it mean to the video game player? No more buying video game cartridges at the video store, no more time wasted standing in line just to flirt with the pretty girl at the cashier and no run ins with your neighborhood pals eager to show off their latest dream gadget at the return line and will take any opportunity to grab you and have you spend a little chit chat time while going through the line.
No more going to the store to swap or search for a compatible graphics card accelerator and no more disposable fees for the junk in the trash bin that should have been recycled.
With cloud computing you can logon anytime from anywhere and have access to the latest and most powerful hardware and technology as if you are purchasing it along with the game cartridge, only you are only purchasing a monthly membership fee. Say again?
No more the need to stand in line at the most popular game console at the local arcade, no more run ins with the local jocks and modern day Biff from Back to the Future fame and no more flirting with the handful of tough gals or newbie maidens that are hoping to catch the attention of the new geek kool styles aka Modern Day Funz ... yikes... Fonz.
